Darwin’s Doubt: The Explosive Origin of Animal Life and The Case For Intelligent Design by Stephen C. Meyer

This New York Times Best Seller is about the “Cambrian Explosion” which was a major crux in Darwin’s time, and was believed the missing links from the Cambrian would be discovered in future, but never did. It also gives a case for intelligent design, I would like to remind the readers, the modern intelligent design movement is very much like Theistic Evolution than it is with creationism. Difference is, they claim it is intelligent agents (rather than God) which is at the center core of the origin of life. However, from a creationist viewpoint, it has very good scientific points that expose the flaws in evolution while presenting fossil evidence which does point towards a Creator!

The Trouble With Physics: The Rise of String Theory, The Fall of a Science, and What Comes Next by Lee Smolin. Theoretical physicist Lee Smolin argues that fundamental physics is vanishing while science fiction ideas like extra dimensions, exotic particles, multiple universes have no experimental confirmation but yet holds the dominant view in science.

The New Creationism by Paul Garner. This book does an excellent job of introducing recent creationist models in astronomy, geology, biology, while exposes many weaknesses in various theories based on evolution at a level that most people can understand.

The Greatest Hoax on Earth? Refuting Dawkins on Evolution written by  Jonathan Sarfati. Description from the publisher…”His latest book, The Greatest Show on Earth: the evidence for evolution is touted as an unanswerable challenge to those who believe in divine creation. In the past, he says, he has assumed evolution; this time he lays out in one major book the evidence for evolution (and its corollary, vast geological ages). Now scientist, chess master and logician Jonathan Sarfati Ph.D. FM goes head to head with Dawkins in this full-on rebuttal…”

Studies in Flood Geology a Compilation of Research Studies Supporting written by John Woodmorappe. Published about 10 years ago has compelling observations which was way ahead of the old earth time frame with it’s assumptions. While evolutionary scientists reject a global flood (because it’s from the Bible) they are closer to flood geology than ever before with their recent conclusions.

An Expose Of The Evolution Industry written by Suzan Mazur.  This is not a creationist book, but despite that it’s worth a read as it gives some insight on current controversies among evolutionary biologists. Suzan writes, “The consensus of the evolution pack still seems to be that if an idea doesn’t fit in with Darwinism and neo-Darwinism-keep it out.” Though this is something creationists and ID proponents have made the public aware of,  this is not referring to those things but to the industry’s opposition to new theories based on naturalistic ideas. For example,  Michael Ruse who is a philosopher, he is opposed to the idea of looking for more ideas beyond natural selection in which things supposedly have evolved,  he refers to this as, “immorally irresponsible” and is afraid on how creationists will react to the new theories which are opposed to the old theories in a positive way.

Exploring Creation with Astronomy written by Jeannie Fulbright.  An excellent book geared for students! Description from CMI…”This book begins with a lesson on the nature of astronomy, and then it covers the major structures of our solar system. Starting with the sun and working towards Pluto, the student will learn details about all nine planets (or is it eight?—your student will have to decide) in the solar system. Along the way, the student will also learn about Earth’s moon, the asteroid belt, and the Kuiper belt. After that, the student will move outside our solar system and learn about the stars and galaxies that make up God’s incredible universe. Finally, the student will learn about space travel and what it takes to be an astronaut!”

Universe by Design written by Dr Danny Faulkner. Includes recent developments in cosmology, theories and facts on the origin and expansion of the Universe. Quotations from Ptolemy, Galileo, Brahe, Newton, Hubble, Einstein and other famous scientists. A discussion about the big bang theory and difficulties and critiques of modern cosmology.

The Cell’s Design written by Frazale Rana and published by Baker Books in 2008, it’s an old earth creationist based book that is dedicated solely to the structures and functions of a living cell.  The contents of the book does in fact do a decent job in giving a background for a person who is not technically sound in bio-chemistry and still able to reach out to those who are. Flaws include the earth is old based on assumptions of certain dating methods.

Evolution: The Grand Experiment written by Dr Carl Werner. An excellent book for parents and schools alike to teach on science. The book collects the best arguments from both sides, lets the reader draw their own conclusions. It also conducts scientific experiments which evolutionists in the past claimed were valid. There is also a teacher’s manual along with this book which is sold separately…

Creative Defense: Evidence Against Evolution written by Nicholas Comninellis M.D. The book explains the basics of evolution in biology. It also goes through in very easy to understand english about DNA and it’s functions.

The Genesis Flood written by John C. Whitcomb and Henry M. Morris. Evolutionist claim that a worldwide flood was possible on Mars but not on earth, this refutes the idea. Chapters include: Basic Non-Geological Argument Against a Universal Flood, and Modern Geology evidence which shows a Universe Flood.

The Biblical Basis For Modern Science written by Dr. Henry Morris who is considered to be “The Father of Modern Creationism.” The book covers a number of topics such as Cosmology, Thermodynamics, Paleontology, Anthropology, Chemistry, Physics and so on. The book should only be used for creationism, not doctrine.

Body By Design written by Dr Alan Gillen who is a biologist and zoologist. A good creationist book for parents who are homeschooling their children or private schools. The book defines basic anatomy and physiology which is geared mostly for high school and college kids, but parents with children younger could actually simplify the information, depending upon the child’s ability or used when the child gets older.

Universe By Design written by Dr. Danny Faulkner. An excellent creationist book for homeschooling or private schools. It basically gives an explanation for the big bang and Cosmology. This book is also geared for high school students, but could be presented to the lower grades. Also useful for those interested in Astronomy.

The Big Argument: Does God Exist? Written by John Ashton and Michael Westacott.  The book answers questions like; “Has science disproved God?” and doing a good job in presenting evidence for a Creator from a variety of different sources.

Understanding Intelligent Design Written by William A. Dembski, and Seah McDowell. A simple and easy to read book about testing Darwinism, the origin of life, and answering the critics about it’s concepts; science or religion? It’s a nice book for those who want to know more about this movement and for those who would like to know more about the weaknesses of evolution and the strengths of a Designer. Keep in mind, this is not a creationist book as it doesn’t use the Bible when promoting their concepts.

Frozen in Time Written by Michael Oard. The book does a very good job in explaining the mysteries of the ice age and the woolly mammoths. Many other related topics are included as well such as ice cores, super floods, man in the ice age.

The Edge of Evolution: The Search for the Limits of Darwinism written by Michael J. Behe. There is good scientific research in this book that challenges Darwinism, but it’s not creationist viewpoint even though it advocates “intelligent design.” Michael Behe accepts such errors from evolution like common descent, the collision hypothesis for the origin of the moon, also he believes in intelligent agents at work which doesn’t represent God, and accepting the time frame in evolution.  The modern ID movement, is not the same as creationism even though the two does agree in some areas in science.
