Darwinist Proposes Something Radical In His Field

Over many years, the United States has spent millions of dollars trying to detect or communicate with supposed alien life forms so much so that Paul Davis from AZ state university has proposed something radical in his particular field. Not so much for us creationists or the modern intelligent design proponents, but radical for his follow scientists who are followers of Darwinian evolution.

Why? The reason is quite obvious, the material being published today in the secular media and scientific journals attempt to undermined or attempt to disprove that detection for intelligent design is not science. A topic that comes up quite often when science standards are being formulated by public schools. While it’s true, that detecting intelligent design is not Darwinian evolution, it doesn’t mean science cannot detect intelligence behind the design.

In Astrobiology Magazine

“Perhaps the most fascinating possibility is if aliens used bioengineering to leave behind unintentional or intentional traces or messages in the DNA of life on Earth. The self-perpetuating nature of life forms could help ensure survival of any such biologically-embedded messages.”

This is the type of things that are on Coast To Coast, a radio station on the AM station which reports on stories that the internet is going to be injected into a person and then integrated with the brain to become part of it. Back in the 80’s when I was going to school, computer chips was the popular story with a particular number being inserted underneath the skin. The chip used for ID and money for a cashless society, now the story has gotten more complex, this time using nano technology to turn humans into robots.

“Citizen scientists and school students could pitch in to run genomic versions of SETI programs to find any such traces, Davies said. Data-mining software programs could do much of the heavy lifting as just a small part of the usual genomic analyses going on in everyday research.”

Paul Davis needs to get out of Hollywood science fiction and should take back the promise that evidence of alien life forms would be discovered on earth in 20 years. How does he propose aliens travel to get here? In order to start looking for traces of alien forms on earth one would have to rationalize how they got here in the first place over vast distances which is theoretically impossible considering the amount of energy and speed and time it would take to get here. What about worm holes? Have those been detected? No! But Hollywood science fiction says they exist and claim that is one of the ways aliens travel.

This is a sad way of spending taxpayer money on a delusion or science fiction story about alien life forms, there are so many other fields in science that could use the extra millions of dollars for their research like fighting diseases, exploring space, and learning how nature works. But there is one thing about his so-called radical proposal, intelligent design is detectable and therefore a science.

  1. It is funny that not finding signs of intelligent life in the sky (which at least made some sense) we look into DNA assuming it is designed by intelligent beings. Not only do the heavens declare the glory of God, But His handiwork can be seen in the DNA. I’m sure they won’t find what they are looking for. That DNA exists in the form it does and that it does what it does ought to be a significant sign itself of an intentional coding of messages. But it is quite a stretch to think it was coded by aliens from a distant planet. However, I will say that not knowing how alien space travel could occur does not itself warrant saying there has not been aliens traveling to earth. What astounds me is that someone think we have been bioengineered by an advanced race of beings. What possible evidence gives rise to such possibility other than a lack of answers? Who seeded them?

Three questions for Michael: If life on earth did not evolve, but was seeded here by aliens, then did those aliens evolve, or were they seeded by another race of aliens? If the latter, then did that other race of aliens evolve, or were they bioengineered by a third set of aliens? Do you begin to get the idea?

    .

Paul Davies is by no means the first to suggest this idea. It’s called “panspermia.” Both the concept and the name date from the Greek philosopher Anaxagoras in the 5thC BCE. Modern forms was proposed by Jons Jacob Berzelius (1834), Lord Kelvin (1871), Hermann von Helmholtz (1879), and even by physical chemist Svante Arrhenius (1903).

Many have searched for evidence of panspermia; none have found any at all. Even today, there are several teams in the field who search for life forms that have no common ancestor with the organisms that we see.

Michael also makes an entirely unfounded assumption that evidence of panspermia would be evidence of design. Even a scientific churl can understand that organisms seeded to the earth might have an entirely natural origin on another planet or another star system,[1] and a natural transport mechanism. Even if such hypothetical seeding of earth were directed by another intelligence, however, the seeded organisms could have been naturally evolved on their home planet, and the organisms who carried out the seeding could have evolved.

But there is one thing about his so-called radical proposal, intelligent design is detectable and therefore a science.

In view of the many natural means of origin and transport of seeded organisms, Michael’s claim that panspermia would be evidence of design is ridiculous on its face, even if evidence of panspermia should turn up after two centuries of looking for it. A desperate attempt, Michael.

[1] Just last week, a proposal was made to send some tardigrades to Mars and back again, to determine whether an advanced life form could survive this journey unprotected. The ongoing Living Interplanetary Flight Experiment is sending selected microorganisms on a 3-year round-trip space flight. (Don’t worry, Michael. None of your “hard-earned” tax dollars were spent on this project. Just our contributions to The Planetary Society. Three cheers for CUBEsats!)

  3. Walt,

DNA exists in the form it does and that it does what it does ought to be a significant sign itself of an intentional coding of messages.

That the earth’s intricate, interconnected weather system exists in the form it does and that it does what it does is also, then, a significant sign of an intentional design.

That the Sun’s perfect balance of hundreds of related fusion reactions exists in the form it does and that it does what it does is a further significant sign of an intentional design.

That the hundred billion stars of the Milky Way exist in the form they do and that they do what they do is also a sign of an intentional design.

In fact, I would challenge Walt to name a single thing that exists, and that does not exist in the form it does, or does not do what it does.[1] According to this reasoning, anything that exists is a sign of an intentional coding of messages. For example, a Torah Code, or a face in a cloud, or a cheese sandwich bearing the image of (take your pick) Jesus, Mary, or Saint Murgathroyd the Lesser.

[1] Here is an isomorphic logical truth for Walt to puzzle on: “That that is is that that is not is not is not that so?”

  4. What astounds me is that someone think we have been bioengineered by an advanced race of beings. What possible evidence gives rise to such possibility other than a lack of answers?

Even stranger is the proposal that we are not real at all, but live our lives as manipulated agents in a programmed computer world of “simulated reality.” Nick Bostrom, a philosophy professor at Oxford, wrote the seminal paper, “Are You Living in a Computer Simulation,” Philosophical Quarterly, Vol. 33, No. 211, pp. 243-255. Other references may be found here.

This concept, of course, suffers all the logical flaws of panspermia, but takes them to a higher level: Who—or what—created the beings who manipulate us, or who programmed us? Again, there is zero evidence for this hypothesis.

Michael is ambivalent about panspermia. On one hand, he thunks it could demonstrate the existence of design. On another hand, however, the beings who may have seeded the universe do not conform to his conception of God. We can see the conflict in the language of his post.

Perhaps it would be worthwhile to query him as to his take on Prof. Bostrom’s concept that we are but Matrix-like avatars of invisible beings who run our world and our lives. Yo, Michael! Are you listening?

  5. “Darwinist” and “scientists who are followers of Darwinian evolution.”

Michael, you again confuse science and religion.

“Darwinism” and “Darwinists” do not exist, just as “Einsteinism” and “Einsteinists” do not exist. Also, scientist do not “follow”. They test.

Hahaha, Michael, did you even listen to Coast to Coast last night? They had a Biblical Llitteralist on. Yep, they have YOUR kind on.

    ROFLMAO!
