Desperate Darwinist War Against The Discovery Channel

James J. Lee decided the cable channel wasn’t in agreement with his agenda so he took hostages and was killed before any harm was done to the people who were in his custody. Every movement or organization has a nutcase who wants to be part of their cause. This one happened to be a Darwinist who has a list of demands…

“All programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass-destruction anymore.”

All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.”

“Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people’s brains until they get it!!”

Atheist PZ Myers disputes a connection between Darwinian evolution and James Lee, he writes in his political liberal (not really much in science) blog

“They don’t make claims that believing in Darwin will make you a good person.”

Just Darwin himself? No, the theory of evolution. His good friend Richard Dawkins who is also an atheist, says to the contrary in his book, The Selfish Gene

“Faith cannot move mountains (though generations of children are solemnly told the contrary and believe it). But it is capable of driving people to such dangerous folly that faith seems to me to qualify as a kind of mental illness. It leads people to believe in whatever it is so strongly that in extreme cases they are prepared to kill and to die for it without the need for further justification… Faith is powerful enough to immunize people against all appeals to pity, to forgiveness, to decent human feelings…”

One has to be in some sort of denial concerning the implication Dawkins is giving here. To him, if one rejects the Bible and God and embraces evolution, they are a better person than one who is religious or a Christian. PZ Meyers also believes this as well.

“Religious faith deserves a chapter to itself in the annals of war technology, on an even footing with the longbow, the warhorse, the tank, and the hydrogen bomb.”

This sounds like James J. Lee except he’s not criticizing the discovery channel rather anyone of faith including Christians. While it’s true Dawkins and PZ Myers are not as extreme like going out and putting fear into people by taking them hostage to promote their cause, but they do have similar tones to their statements. The fact of the matter is, Dawkins is wrong about faith even a Darwinist can be prepared to take lives or die for his or her cause.

There is certainly a connection with evolution and the self-imposed war that was conducted by James Lee, if he claimed to be a Christian, they would be blaming his religious beliefs for his evil deeds, much like Dawkins calls faith a “metal illness.”

There is certainly a connection with evolution and the self-imposed war that was conducted by James Lee, …

I say again: Does anyone in the world still wonder why people laugh at creationists?

(Note to Michael: Google the term “argumentum ad Hitlerum.”)

  2. . . . . . . . . IN OTHER NEWS

The Institute for Creation Research has concede defeat in its attempts to accredit a graduate program in “creation science”—“ICR’s legal battle is over”.

The message is clear: no science programs offered from a biblical creationist viewpoint are allowed. Even private schools will be judged by the restricted, secular practices of public schools, reinforced by the secular (read “non-Christian”) interpretations of the Establishment Clause that now dominate the legal system.

Sometimes, even creationists cannot deny reality.

We need not wait long for the reincarnation, however. The School of Biblical Apologetics appeared to disciples within days of the demise. Being an avowedly religious school, no state accreditation is needed to offer their so-called degree of “Master of Christian Education.” So everyone is free to take their scrap of parchment for what it’s worth. Or not.

Michael may be interested that two of the minors offered are Genesis Studies and Creation Research. If he demands to remain ignorant of science, perhaps he could at least learn a little something about creationism.

  3. Michael, thank you. I feel dumber now for having read this.. There is no connection between “Darwinism” and what the maniac did who held up the Discovery Channel…. And if you want to argue that it is Darwinism verses the Discovery Channel, then why don’t you show us where the Discovery Channel ever opposed the theory of evolution?

  4. Kris, Michael always conflates science with religion. In a sense, you might say that he dioes not understand science because he does not understand religion.

One of the differences that Michael will never understand is the argumentum ad Hitlerum. One can ague that a religion is false because its founders or adherents are evil. But you cannot argue that E=mc2 is false because Einstein practiced marital infidelity. Seems laughable when put in that form, but this is exactly what Michael argues: that evolution is false because James Lee committed heinous acts.

Incidentally, we have a discussion going on over at Thinking Christian blog right now about the moral implications of evolution. Tom Gilmore has promised a longish post summarizing his (creationist) views, and says that it may transmogrify into a journal article. C’mon over and splatter some blood around.

  5. More on the Failed ICR graduate school.

The Web page odf the new ICR School of Biblical Apologetics seems to have only two scientists on the faculty, both of them geologists and descendants of the founder, Henry M. Morris.

Notably missing from the faculty is its former head, geologist Andrew Snelling. who has written many articles defending the YEC dating of all geologic formations to 6-10,000 years ago. It may be that 3 creationist geologists form some kind of unstable nucleus, or exceed the capacity of the universe.

Or, it may happen that Dr. Snelling’s transgressions of the Statement of Faith have caught up with him. While Dr Snelling has written extensively and passionately on a biblical chronology, it turns out that he has also published some peer-reviewed papers as a consulting geologist. All of these latter papers accept a 4-billion year age of the Earth, and otherwise fully embrace mainstream science. None of these papers cite or reference the creationist papers, and vice versa.

This disconnect between these two sets of papers is so great that some have hypothesizexd that there are two Dr. Andrew A. Snellings who share the same address and telephone number.

At any rate, Dr Snelling (or one of them) is no longer on the faculty of the ICR’s graduate school.

  6. Re Dr Snelling’s two faced publications, Socrates Puppette comments that “If you can’t trust a creationist to keep the faith, whom can you trust?”
