Geology’s Pace Confirms Creationism

Public education which also teaches Darwinism also teaches “geologic time” as a very long duration of time like millions of years.  But reported through out this year in Darwinian publications, geology moves rather quite rapidly!

In the beginning of the year, it was discovered that kimberlite eruptions, which enable diamonds from deep in the mantle to rise to the surface, are much more rapid than previously thought.

In PhysOrg.com

“Kimberlite, a type of magma that is normally found deep within the Earth’s crust is known to somehow make its way to the surface at times, and when it does, it quite often has diamonds in it. Scientists have long believed that some process whereby some unknown substance being dissolved in water and carbon dioxide was responsible and that the rise was likely rapid, but other than that, had no real good explanation of how they moved upwards. Now, the riddle appears to be solved.”

“Canadian volcanologist Kelly Russell and his colleagues at the University of British Columbia, as they describe in their upcoming paper in Nature, believe that when hot rising magma runs into silica rich minerals, carbon dioxide laden foam is released, forcing the minerals to the surface.”

According to a drilling survey, explosions under the sea in Norwegian waters is able to produce enough sand instantaneously to cover Manhattan almost 500 feet deep! According to Nature in May 2012…

“At the start of the most recent ice age, pressurized sand exploded through cracks in the sea floor at the bottom of the North Sea, producing a body of sand large enough to bury Manhattan under 160-metre-high dunes.”

They are talking about 10 cubic kilometers of sand erupting through these cracks quite rapidly.

Another another geological process that was assumed by the evolutionary time frame to be a long process is also quite rapid. In Science Daily…

“The depths of Earth are anything but peaceful: large quantities of liquids carve their way through the rock as fluids, causing magma to form. A research team led by the University of Münster, has shown that the fluids flow a lot faster through solid rock than previously assumed. In the Chinese Tian Shan Mountains, fluids pushed their way to Earth’s mantle from great depths in just 200 years rather than in the course of tens or even hundreds of thousands of years. “

“During field work in the Chinese part of the Tian Shan Mountains (Celestial Mountains), the research team found structures in the rocks they were studying which can be ascribed to massive fluid flows at great depth. “Our investigation has shown that a great deal of fluid must have flowed through a rock vein at about 70 km depth and that this fluid has obviously already covered a distance of several hundred meters or more — the transport of such large quantities of fluid over such a great distance has not been demonstrated by anyone before us” explains Timm John from the Institute for Mineralogy, University of Münster. “

“And the most exciting thing is that this amount of fluid flowed through the rock in what is for geological processes a very short time, only about two hundred years,” adds Nikolaus Gussone of the same institute.”

It is exciting to discover geological processes moving in a very short period of time!  But in order to keep millions of year in their time frame,  the Norway team decided not to take into account an actual observation of the fluid accumulation there and then they use Ad hoc explanations order to keep it into the millions of years time frame.  They write… “The release of fluids from minerals in the descending plates is a large-scale and continuous process that takes place at depths up to two-hundred kilometres and takes millions of years,” they explained. , “During this time, the fluids first accumulate.”

In the creationist model, the earth is young, and observing rapid geological processes confirms it! There is no adjusting those observations to an Ad hoc explanation in order to fit into its timeline.  This isn’t going to be the last time you will hear of  “more rapid than previously assumed” because there are other rapid processes out there which falsify the Darwinian of assumption of millions of years!

  1. Yet once more a\gain, for the 347th time, Michael confuses the word “rapid” with “young.” Guess, what? Not every geologic process started when the earth was formless and void.

There are rapid geological processes that took place far in the past. Radiometric dating confirms their ancient dates. And, if the decay rates varied in the past, then that would alter the fusion processes of the sun, preventing it from shining as the Bible says. And annual ice cores alone can be counted back 700,000 years.

Sorry, Michael. creationism has always failed on geology. In 80 years, no strict creationist has finished graduate studies in geology and remained a creationist.[1] That ought to tell you something.

    But it won’t, will it?

Desperate, Michael, desperate. Why don’t you pick on something easier—-such as disputing the nu-biblical theory that the earth revolves around the sun..

[1] See supporting documentation here., at my comment on May 24. Michael’s memory is short for inconvenient facts.

We keep telling Michael that he should read the entire paper, and not just search for keywords to bolster his position. Had he read the entire paper in Nature[1] and thought about the context, he would have noted that the “rapid” part of the process occurs when a tipping point is reached in the rather slow ascent of the kimberlite through the mantle—say, millions of years. Then, when it hits a layer of lower solubility, the ascent becomes rapid.[2]

Once again, if Michael had not swept the rest of that Natrure article under the rug, he would have had to report that, although the 10km3 of sand erupted rapidly, it did so 2.5 MILLION YEARS AGO, Michael, please inform us how that result points to a young earth. Fail.

Another another geological process that was assumed by the evolutionary time frame to be a long process is also quite rapid. In Science Daily…

Michael doesn’t give us the source for that finding, but he doesn’t have to. For he quotes the refutation of his argument in his own post![3] But then, like a dog spitting out the medicine wrapped inside a treat, he merely dismisses that inconvenient part, as an attempt to fit the observation into a standard timeline.

Another instance of selective belief—swallowing whole the part that agrees with his position, but dismissing the part that is inconsistent—even from the same source. The previous two examples did the same thing, of course, but were not quite so blatantly obvious about it.

One wonders how Michael expects anyone to believe this stuff. Maybe he doesn’t, and the entire effort is to allay his own fears. His fears that his worldview is fundamentally flawed, but that the entire structure of his faith will come crashing down if he admits it.

It’s happened many times before. Creationism is a major source of atheists.[4]

[2] Scientists had known for a long time that the final stage was rapid—Michael was apparently ignorant of that. The point of the new paper was to explain the natural causes of the mechanism that makes this happen. No magic involved—it’s like opening a pop can suddenly. Too bad, Michael.

Well, yes and no. There are numerous examples of rapid geological processes, but none of them “falsify” the antiquity of the earth.[1]

In fact, it is tres surprising that Michael did not even mention some of the most rapid large-scale geologic processes. Such as fillingt the entire Mediterranean Sea in a matter of a couple of years.[2] At a rate of 5 cubic kilometers per minute!

The Deccan Traps formed in the geologic blink of an eye, covering an area of 500,000km2. But, again, these eruptions occurred 60 million years ago..

Michael, if you’re going to brag about rapid geologic events, you might as well pick the biggest ones.

    ==================

[1] Michael calls this a “Darwinuian” assumption, but this is due to his ignorance. Geologic processes are not subject to inheritance of traits with variation, nor doesw natural selection act upon rocks.

[2] Happened several times. Most recently 5 million years ago.

  5. Creationism has, in the past 200 years, made no headway whatever against the mainstream model of the earth’s history. No advances, no theories, no nothing. In fact, we could say that—-

  6. Well, it’s just about time for another post on how evolution is a liberal conspiracy to spend our hard-earned tax dollars[1] for crushing religious liberty.

Granted, it’s a had slog to find any kind of paper or article that can be twisted into presenting yet another “falsification” of some tiny aspect of evolution. Or cosmology. Or paleontology. Or climate change. Especially since he only has—what—at least several hundred new papers per week to choose from.

Wait, here’s one. Michael is entranced by biological oscillators, mistakenly believing them to be very complex, whn in fact they are some of the simplest mechanisms around. And the most ancient. Now we see that circadian oscillators not only go back forever, but their biological markers have, at a deep level, remained the same.[2] Their rapid cycle—once every 24 hours—surely indicates that they were created recently. Maybe even just last week.

    ========================

[1] Why are tax dollars are more hard-earned than any other dollars? It must be one of the mental ruts that Michael falls into as a substitute for actual thought.
